There’s the aroma…and the taste. For centuries, people have loved coffee, and for many, it’s an essential part of their morning ritual. How many give a thought to whether or not coffee is good or bad for their health? It’s hard to say, but it’s a question that has been hotly debated for centuries. Coffee has been both lauded as a boon to mental and physical performance and condemned as an addictive drug. Although coffee was once pegged as increasing the risk for heart disease and stroke, more recent research seems to dispel that concern. However, on the issue of cancer, the jury is still out. One particularly interesting finding is that people who consume more than one cup of coffee a day have a lower mortality risk from cancer, as well a lower risk of liver, circulatory, and digestive diseases, than people who don’t drink coffee.
